Founded in 2016, Automatic Trap Company exists to change how rodent control is done—and what people expect from it.

Rodents thrive largely because of the environments we’ve created: our food systems, waste streams, farms, and homes. In many cases, controlling them is unavoidable. What is avoidable is unnecessary suffering.

Much of today’s rodent control relies on methods that cause prolonged distress and widespread collateral damage. Glue boards immobilize animals for hours or days, leading to dehydration, exhaustion, self-mutilation, and suffocation. Poisons cause slow, painful deaths and do not stop with the target animal. Predatory birds, pets, and other wildlife are routinely poisoned when they consume affected rodents.

Even live trapping, often assumed to be “humane,” frequently is not. Captured animals experience extreme stress, injury, dehydration, and exposure. Relocation typically results in death anyway, through starvation, territorial violence, or predation. Outsourcing suffering doesn’t eliminate it.

We believe there is a better standard.

Self-resetting systems reduce waste, eliminate poisons, and replace repeated handling and prolonged distress with a fast, decisive outcome.
